Roads being surveilled with drones: Highway police chief

Additional Inspector General of Highway Police Shahabuddin Khan said, “This year’s Eid journey will be more secure and comfortable compared to any previous year. This time roads have been brought under surveillance with the help of drones.”

He made the disclosure while inspecting security and traffic management of Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Alekharchar Bishwa Road area of Cumilla section of the highway on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday (April 7).

The highway police chief said: “We are trying our best to make Eid trips safe. Side by side, public representatives should also extend their cooperation in this regard. Passengers should also be careful. We never support risky Eid journeys.”

Shahabuddin said, “Number of accidents increase a lot after Eid. Special measures have been taken to deal with that situation. There are speed guns and speedometers on the highways. Our aim is to ensure that people can celebrate Eid safely and comfortably.”
