Faridpur road crash: Death toll rises to 13

The death toll from a collision between a bus and pickup van in Kanaipur area in Faridpur's Sadar upazila rose to 13.

Of the deceased five were identified as – Rafiq Mollah, 35, his wife Sumi Begum, 23, two sons Ruhan Mollah, 6, and Habib Mollah, 3, and Marjina Begum.

Faridpur police super (SP) Md Morshed Alam said the accident took place when the bus collided with a pickup head-on around 8:00am, leaving 11 passengers of the pickup dead on the spot and injured four others.

Later, the injured were taken to Faridpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital where two more injured died under treatment.

Faridpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Kamrul Ahsan Talukdar said a five-member probe committee has been formed in this regard.
