Lightning kills 2 in Rangamati

Two persons were killed in lightning strikes in separate places of Rangamati district on Thursday (May 2).

The incidents took place at Sylheti Para under Rangamati's Sadar upazila, and Muslim block area of Rupkari union under Baghaichhari upazila.

The deceased were known as Md Nazir Hossain, 50, Baharjan, 60.

Police and local sources said Baharjan died on the spot when a thunder bolt struck her in residence while Nazir Hossain was killed by lightning strike while working outside of his house.

Rangamati Sadar Hospital’s residential doctor Md Shawkat Akbar said that the body of Nazir Hossain hands over the family after completing the autopsy.

Baghaichhari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ishtiaq Ahmed confirmed the matter.
