Kaliganj Awami League hoists black flag

The dwellers of Kaliganj upazila are shocked at the murder of Jhenaidah-4 constituency MP Anwarul Azim Anar.

Following the killing, Kaliganj upazila Awami League raised black flags, as well as party and national flags, at their office on Bhushan Road around 12 pm on Thursday (May 23).

Ashraful Alam Ashraf, the organizing secretary of the municipal Awami League and the municipal mayor, broke down in tears during the flag hoisting.

Upazila Awami League general secretary Ayub Hossain, Motiar Rahman Moti, Ohiduzzaman Odu, Mostafizur Rahman Biju, and local leaders were present during the flag hoisting. Later, they announced a doa mahfil at Jummabad Masjid on Friday and will be wearing black bands.

Meanwhile, the leaders said that those who killed Anar should be brought under trial and given an exemplary punishment.

Abu Azif, Officer-in-charge of Kaliganj police station said that his brother Enamul Haque Iman filed a GD at Kaliganj police station on May 19 regarding the disappearance of MP Anar.
