Cyclone Remal: 1 killed in Patuakhali

A young man died after being swept away by strong current due to Cyclone Remal while he was trying to rescue his relatives in Patuakhali's Kalapara upazila on Sunday (May 26).

The deceased was known as Sharif, 24, son of Abdur Rahim, hailed from Anantapara area of Kalapara upazila.

Police and local sources said the victim family members live in Begum Kauarchar area. Sharif went to the village to save them from the flooded area. But the tragedy struck at the area when a massive wave knocked Sharif off his feet and swept him out to sea. Later, locals found his dead body.

Confirming the matter, Mahipur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anwar Hossain Talukdar said on information police forces was sent to the spot.
