A Chattogram court on Monday (November 28) placed Abir Ali on seven-day remand in a case filed for cutting five-year old ill-fated Alina Islam Ayat into six pieces.
Chattogram Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abdul Halim passed the remand after the investigating officer of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) produced Abir Ali, the lone accused of the murder case, before the court seeking 10-day remand for him.
Earlier, police arrested Abir Ali, 19, from the city’s Nayahat area on Thursday (November 24) afternoon. He is the former tenant of the building owned by father of Ayat.
During primary interrogation, Abir admitted that he abducted Ayat in a planned way for ransom. As the child screamed for help during the abduction, he strangled her and took her to his residence nearby. He cut the body into six pieces and later dumped the parts into the sea, police said.
Ayat went missing after coming out her residence on November 15.
The victim’s father Sohel Rana lodged a general diary (GD) in this connection.
