11 platoons of BGB deployed in Khulna

Some 11 platoons of Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in Khulna City Corporation (KCC) area to ensure security in city the elections set to be held on June 12.

The BGB members have already started to patrol on different streets of the city.

Yeasir Arefin, Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Khulna confirmed the matter. 

He said, “BGB has been deployed to keep law and enforcement situation under control during the elections. A total of 220 members under 11 platoons have been deployed in the city areas.”

According to returning officer (RO) office, some 16 members of the law and order enforcement agencies will be deployed for security of every general polling station. A mobile force consisting of police, APBn and Ansar battalions will be deployed in each general ward, one striking force in three general wards and one reserve striking force in each police station. Besides, teams of RAB and BGB will be deployed.

Khulna City Corporation election returning officer Alauddin said, “In this election, a total of 7500 members of law and order enforcement agencies including BGB, Police, Ansar, RAB will be responsible for the overall security of the city including polling stations.”
