‘Decision on Jamaat to be taken after receiving court order’

EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said the Election Commission (EC) will take the decision on Jamaat-e-Islami's registration after receiving the court's directive.

He said this while replying a question of reporters at Agargaon Election Building on Sunday (June 1).

Earlier, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court scrapped a High Court ruling that previously declared the registration of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami as a political party illegal.

The Election Commission (EC) has been instructed to resolve the party's application regarding the cancellation of registration and other issues.
