Foreigners murdering investigation should be uninfluenced

In a-five day period two foreign citizens were killed in the country. Motorbike-born assailants shot an Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella in Dhaka’s diplomatic area on Monday and Japanese citizen Hosi Koniyo was killed in a same way in Rangpur on Saturday.

On the other hand, Miscreants tried to slaughter a Christian Pastor, Luke Sarkar (53) in district’s Ishwardi upazila on Monday morning.

The victim Luke Sarkar served as a homeopaths in his residence and side by side he also worked as a Pastor in Christian Baptist Mission. Riding motor bike, three youths entered the house of Christian Pastor at Airport Road around 9.00am and attacked with a knife to slaughter him.

Meanwhile, hearing the screaming of Luke Sarkar, his wife rushed to the room. At one stage, the three youths fled the scene. Later, the critically injured was sent to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex. Finally, Luke Sarkar survived. There is no doubt that it’s a good news.

But, the assailants who tried to killed Luke Sarkar and killed Cesare Tavella and Hosi Koniyo followed same way to kill them. All of them used motorbikes. We heard that using motorbike, militants and miscreants killed people and quickly fled the scene in Pakistan. And the recent incidents remind us the same way has started here in Bangladesh!

The concerned authorities believed that the aim, attacking way and motive of both Cesare Tavella and Hosi Koniyo incidents were same. Middle East based Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the murder of Cesare Tavella and Hosi Koniyo. Police did not get any information about the assailants who tried to killed Luke Sarkar in Ishwardi. Side by side, the Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said denied any organizational existence of IS in Bangladesh.

The total situation became fishy when so called IS claimed responsibility of killing and Home Minister denied that side by side, there is no clear evidence of killing incidents yet.

Every murdering incident is blameworthy. Tension rose when miscreants killed two foreigners and tried to kill another Christian Pastor within one week. We don’t want to see killing incidents anymore. Additional security and awareness among general people is must now.

Cesare Tavella and Hosi Koniyo were citizens from two friendly countries of us. So, these killing incidents are too sensitive. We want fair investigation and punishment of criminals. The authority should be careful so that the murdering incidents remain out of influence of politics. We also hope that no high officials of the government will make any comment in this regard till the investigation finish.
