The government has decided to suspend daily assemblies at all government primary schools until further notice due to the ongoing heatwave that is sweeping across the country.

The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education came up with the decision in a notification on Saturday (April 20).

Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, senior information officer at the ministry, said that the ministry is having a careful eye on the ongoing severe heatwave sweeping across the country. Considering the situation, daily assemblies at all government primary schools will remain suspended until further notice.

Amid the ongoing heatwave after Ramadan and Eid vacation, all educational institutions across the country will reopen on Sunday (April 21).

Earlier, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued a 72-hour nationwide heat alert that started from Friday.
