Schools will be kept open on Friday if needed: Minister

Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury has said a decision can come to keep schools open on Fridays if it is needed.

The minister said this at a press briefing at the Secretariat on Tuesday. 

“There is a difference in temperature in each region of Bangladesh. Temperature remains low in northeast and haor region. However, due to heavy rains, classes have to be stopped due to flooding there within a few days. Therefore, if necessary, to reduce the learning gap caused by various holidays including natural calamities, a decision can come to continue all classes and examinations on Fridays”, he said.

The minister also said decisions on school opening and closing down will be taken district-wise from now on. The educational institutions will not be closed or open collectively countrywide anymore.
