Aftabuddin memorial awards, scholarships distributed

Desk Report: Two teachers have been given Aftabuddin Memorial Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award-2016 while 16 other meritorious students have been rewarded with foundation scholarships.

The awards and scholarships were distributed at a function held at Shahid Shamsul Haque Pilot Girls` High School at Nagarpur in Tangail district on Monday.

S.M. Zahid Hasan, trustee of Aftabuddin Memorial Foundation and executive director of Walton, inaugurated the function while Nagarpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Alamgir Hussain was present as chief guest at the programme.

President of Nagarpur High Schools Teachers Association and principal of Barigram School and College Md Almas Uddin presided over the function.

Nagarpur Upazila Secondary Education Officer Motiur Rahman Khan, former headmasters of Jadunath Pilot High School Gopendra Mohon Saha and Ahsan Uddin Mia, teacher of Nayan Khan Memorial High School Shambhunath Saha were among other distinguished guests present on the occasion.

The lifetime achievement awardees are former Assistant Headmaster of Salimabad High School Md. Nurul Islam and former teacher of Daptier Najir Ali High School Md. Danej Ali.

The awards and scholarships are given every year in memory of late Aftabuddin, a former teacher of Jadunath Pilot High School. Aftabuddin served as headmaster for 45 years in various educational institutions. He was a leader of teachers and was also involved in various social and cultural activities.
