‘DU working to strengthen pace of development’

Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Akhtaruzzaman have greeted teachers, students, officials and employees of the university on the occasion of the month of victory.
At the same time, he paid deep homage to all the martyrs and heroic freedom fighters of the Liberation War, including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the greatest Bengali nation of all time.
In a message on Monday (November 30), DU VC said, “Under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh was born on the world map in 1971 after nine months of bloody struggle and sacrificing the blood of 3 million martyrs and the respect of 2,00,000 mothers and sisters. Today, on the eve of the golden jubilee of independence, the country has joined the forefront of development and is moving ahead in building the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu’s dream.”
He said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a worthy daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and a former student of Dhaka University, Bangladesh has been identified as a role model of development in the world today. Dhaka University is working with the government to make this role model of development more powerful, knowledge-based, value-added and inclusive.”
The Vice-Chancellor further said, “Every year on the first day of the month of victory, Dhaka University conducts various programmes including Family Victory Rally with great enthusiasm. Due to the global coronavirus epidemic, this year it is not possible to carry out these programmes”.
He hoped that the new generation would play an active role in building the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu’s dream by embracing the spirit of the Liberation War, non-communal, humanitarian and democratic values
In addition, the VC wished for everyone happiness, peace, joy, prosperity and well-being in the month of victory.
