Edu’ Ministry issues instructions to cancel KAU recruitment

The Ministry of Education has issued instructions to cancel the recruitment of 73 teachers and nine members of Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Shahidur Rahman Khan’s family at Khulna Agricultural University (KAU). 

The letter in this regard signed Md Mahmudul Alam, Deputy Secretary of the Secondary & Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education, was sent to the Vice-Chancellor on August 3.

The letter says that the instruction was given in light of the investigation report made by Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC). It also asked the authority concerned to send the report to the ministry after implementing the instruction. Shahidur Rahman’s term as vice-chancellor will end on September 11.

The matter was confirmed to risingbd on Monday (August 29) by the registrar of the university Khandkar Mazharul Anwar.

He said, “They received the letter on August 25. As the letter was forwarded to the Vice-Chancellor, the instructions will be implemented subject to the approval of the Vice-Chancellor as soon as possible.”

However, he pointed out that the order to cancel the appointment of 73 teachers is against the university law and will be applied to the Ministry of Education for reconsideration. 

Vice-Chancellor Professor Shahidur Rahman Khan did not receive calls to talk about the matter.
