Ranbir Kapoor film earns ₹338 crore in 1st week

The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal has become the most polarising film of the year with many criticising the film’s misogynistic tone, but at the same time, the audience has been flocking to theatres to see what it’s all about.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film has been in theatres for a week now, and its nett collection in India stands at Rs 338 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. On its seventh day of release, Animal made Rs 25.5 crore in India. Animal is already the fourth-highest grosser of the year, after Jawan, Pathaan and Gadar 2.

After the first seven days, Jawan had collected Rs 367.5 crore, Pathaan has collected Rs 330.25 crore and Gadar 2 earned Rs 284.63 crore. Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal is already ahead of Gadar 2 after day seven box office collections, and it looks like it might soon overtake Pathaan as well. As per the film’s producers, T-Series, Animal’s global collection after seven days stands at Rs 563 crore, reports indianexpress.com.

On Thursday, the Ranbir Kapoor film saw an overall occupancy of 30.43%, with the night shows dominating with an occupancy of 43.71%. Animal has 1293 shows in the Delhi-NCR region, which is the highest in India, and here, the overall occupancy was 38%.

Animal is now entering its second weekend and without any competition in sight, the film will continue to dominate the box office, until the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and Prabhas’ Salaar. Animal released alongside the Vicky Kaushal-starrer Sam Bahadur, which has only managed to make Rs 38.83 crore as of now.

Ranbir Kapoor hasn’t had such a big hit in cinemas since his 2018 film Sanju. Since then, he has been seen in Shamshera, Brahmastra and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. Shamshera bombed at the box office and could only manage to make Rs 42.48 crore. His next film, the much hyped Brahmastra, which was announced as a trilogy had a strong start at the box office, managed to make Rs 257.44 crore but given its humungous budget, the film wasn’t seen as a big hit. His 2023 release Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar managed to make Rs 149.05 crore._Agencies.
