Staff Correspondent: The condition of popular singer Nazmun Munira Nancy, who allegedly tried to commit suicide by consuming sleeping pills on Saturday afternoon, is stable now.
The singer is kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of LabAid Specialized Hospital in the capital.
LabAid Hospital`s coordinator Dr. Ali Abrar said the singer is now out of danger.
Meanwhile, the hospital’s Assistant General Manager (Corporate Communications) Saifur Rahman Lenin said tough the condition of the singer is stable, yet the effect of the sedatives is to be over. “She`s slumping into an occasional delirium," said Lenin.
Earlier on Sunday morning, Nancy was shifted to LabAid Specialised Hospital from Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
The popular female singer was brought to Dhaka around 3.30am from Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Nancy tried to commit suicide by consuming 60 sleeping pills on Saturday afternoon at her father`s residence at Netrakona town.
In a critical condition, the singer was first admitted to Netrokona Sadar Hospital and then shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
An award winning singer, Nancy had racked up a controversy last year by accusing the government of “unleashing” police on her after her Facebook posting in support of the BNP.
She also claimed receiving threats on phone from unidentified sources since her Facebook posting.
Police suspect family dispute with her husband could be behind the suicidal attempt.
