DHAKA, July 7: Renowned singer Habib Wahid will perform solo Sunday evening at 6:30pm at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre at Gulshan in the capital.

Last May, he performed with his father, eminent singer Ferdous Wahid, at the same venue.

The programme “A Musical Evening” is organised by IGCC in association with the State Bank of India in Bangladesh, with Channel i as media partners.

Habib’s music has a distinctive demand and popularity among listeners and he is successful in taking his father’s musical legacy forward with dexterity.

Habib is a composer and musician distinguished for his fusion of traditional Bengali folk music with contemporary urban and techno beats.

He pursued music and audio engineering courses at the School of Audio Engineering in London, and released his first album “Krishno,” a unique mix of folk and modern electronic music that was an instant hit both in Britain and Bangladesh. His father Ferdous Wahid was the first to bring disco elements into Bangla songs.

Performing abroad, Habib received much appreciation by audiences of countries such as USA, Sweden, Australia, Canada, UAE and Qatar. He has also won several laurels for his musical compositions.
