Mahbubul Khalid’s Janmashtami song portrays Sri Krishna 

Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, a major festival of the Hindu community marking the birth of Lord Sri Krishna, is being celebrated across the country today (August 30) with due religious fervor.

Sri Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu, was born to Devaki and her husband Vasudeva in Mathura to which Krishna's parents belonged.

According to Hindu religion, Lord Vishnu incarnated in the universe as Lord Krishna in the prison of Raja Kangsa on this day, the eighth of "Shukla Pakkha" (bright fortnight) in the month of Bengali calendar Bhadra in Dwapara Yuga to protect "Dharma" from the hands of devils. The day mostly falls in the months of August or September as per the Western calendar.

Janmashtami is celebrated with enthusiasm as Hindu community dress in traditional clothes and prepare delicious dishes to offer to the almighty as prassad. People also celebrate this auspicious festival by observing fast and decorating their homes and temples with flowers, diyas and lights.

However, due to the Covid-19 outbreak, all rituals and programs will be arranged inside temples maintaining health safety guidelines.

Meanwhile, noted Bangladeshi poet, lyricist and composer Mahbubul Khalid has penned a song on Sri Krishna that highlights the life of the Hindu avatar and the propose of His incarnation. The music of the song titled 'Krishna' was composed by late composer Ahmed Imtaiz Bulbul. Veteran singer late Subir Nandi rendered his voice on the song.

The song has been published on the lyricist's musical website ‘www.khalidsangeet.com’. Besides, a music video is also released on YouTube's Khalid Sangeet channel.

Mentionable, the poems and songs written by Mahbubul Khalid contain religious and social festivals of different religions. He writes and composes songs for all humankind irrespective of race, religion and caste. To him, music is not for any race or religion, music is for everyone. His songs and poems are rich with the message of love and humanity.

Apart from Krishna, Mahbubul Khalid also wrote songs on Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of Hindus along with Mahalaya. He has written songs on the Muslim religious festivals of Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha, Shab-e-Qadr, Shab-e-Meraj, Shab-e-Barat, Hajj, Eid-e-Miladunnabi etc. He has also written songs on other religious festivals such as Christmas of Christians, Buddha Purnima of Buddhists and so on. These songs written by Mahbubul Khalid clearly show the perspectives and significances of the respective days and festivals.
