Mahbubul Khalid`s Baishakhi songs enhance joy of Pahela Baishakh

Pahela Baishakh or Bengali New Year is being celebrated today (April 14) across the country. While the pandemic robbed Bengalis of the celebrations for two years, this year Ramadan has brought a different flavour to the festival.

The Pahela Baishakh celebration is deep-rooted in the nation’s cultural identity; it is a common symbol against all odds and communalism. Bengalis and Bangladeshis of all walks of life feel pulled to the festivities for it traditional charm.

Pahela Baishakh has always been a testament to their passion for celebrating special occasions regardless of rain or sweltering heat. Bengalis enjoy the festivities with the same vigour.

Simple rituals like having traditional and culturally relevant cuisine, dressing up in bright splashes of colours or pristine whites, wearing flower jewellery…all of it allows people to feel in touch with the Bengali part of the most of now globalised souls.

Renowned poet, lyricist and composer Mahbubul Khalid has penned various songs on the occasion which represent the Baishakhi culture of Bengali people and enhance the joy of the festival. Among the songs 'Ayre Ay Baishakh Ay', 'Dhol Bajao Re' and 'Noboborsho' are most noteworthy.

The song 'Ayre Ay Baishakh Ay' has three versions in which prominent singer late Subir Nandi and young singer Tina Mostary rendered their voices under the music of late composer Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul.

The music of another Pahela Baishak song 'Dhol Bajao Re' has been composed by Roman Rahman which has been sung by young singer Shoshi.

Meanwhile, the other song 'Noboborsho' has two versions in which Kona and Moutushi rendered their voices under music of Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul.

The audios and videos of those songs have been published on the website of www.khalidsangeet.com. Besides, music videos are also available on Mahbubul Khalid's YouTube channel ‘Khalid Sangeet’.

Mentionable, poet, lyricist and composer Mahbubul Khalid has penned and tuned a vast number of songs including various days or observance, popular and renowned personalities, social awareness etc.

He has written songs on religious festival of major religions including Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha, Shab-e-Qadr, Shab-e-Meraj, Shab-e-Barat, Hajj, Eid-e-Miladunnabi etc of Muslims while Durga Puja, Mahalaya, Diwali and Lord Krishna of Hindus, Christmas of Christians, Buddha Purnima of Buddhists and so on. These songs written by Mahbubul Khalid clearly show the perspectives and significances of the respective days and festivals.
