20 eminent personalities to get Shilpakala Padak

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has announced the names of 20 recipients for its prestigious Shilpakala Padak 2019 and 2020.

Liaquat Ali Lucky, director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy declared the awards in a press conference on Tuesday noon (September 20).

The recipients of the 2019 award are - Masud Ali Khan (dramatics), Hasina Momtaz (vocal), Abdul Mannan (fine arts), Anupam Hayat (film), Lubna Marium (dance), Shamvu Acharaya (folklore), Mohammad Moniruzzaman (instrumental – flute), M A Taher (photography), Hasan Arif (recitation), and cultural institution Chhayanaut (creative cultural unit).

For 2020, the selected cultural personalities are - Malay Bhowmick (dramatics), Mahmudur Rahman Benu (vocal), Shahid Kabir (fine arts), Shameem Akhtar (film), Shibli Mohammad (dance), Shah Alam Sarkar (folklore), Shamsur Rahman (instrumental – shehnai), Shafiqul Islam Swapan (photography), Dahlia Ahmed (recitation), and Dinajpur Nattya Samity (creative cultural unit).

The awards ceremony will be held at the academy at 4:30pm in the capital's Segunbagicha on September 22.

President Abdul Hamid will join the program virtually as a chief guest. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan MP, Cultural affairs secretary Md Abul Mansur and others will also join the function.
