Ex-MP Masud Arun arrested

Meherpur Correspondent: Police arrested former BNP lawmaker of Meherpur-1 and the District BNP General Secretary Masud Arun from his own house of the district town early Monday.

 

"The BNP leader was arrested as court issued warrant against him in two sabotage cases," said Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (OC) of Meherpur Sadar Police Staion.

 

He said, "The former lawmaker was accused in two sabotage cases filed during the anti-government movement of BNP-Jamaat enforcing hartal-blockade across the country in 2013. He was on bail in the cases granted by High Court. The lower court issued arrest warrant against him as he did not appear before it after expiring the bail period. He was arrested in the cases according to warrant."
