Faruk opposed on electioneering, journalist injured

Staff Correspondent, Comilla: Leaders and activists of Sweschasebak League and Chhatra League allegedly opposed BNP leader Joynal Abedin Faruk`s mass campaigning for the party nominated candidate in Comilla.
The ruling party men on Tuesday opposed him in Tulatuli area of the district`s Chandina upazila during electioneering BNP candidate Shah M Alamgir Khan.
It was alleged that the assailants also attacked a journalist and snatched away his camera.
Faruk alleged that he was going with electioneering for BNP nominated candidate Shah Alamgir Khan in Tulatuli area while some motorcycle-borne assailants led by Upazila Sweschasebak League President Jahirul Munsi and Municipality Chhatra League President Mozammel attacked them.
A journalist was injured by the attacks and the assailants snatched away his camera, he added.
Rasul Ahmad Nizami, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandina Police Station, said, "Some people opposed BNP leader Faruk while electioneering for municipality polls. I heard by locals that some people took away the camera of a journalist as he was about to take pictures of the incident."
