HC rule on S Alam`s land in Banshkhali

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has issued a rule asking why the record of 1.20 acres of land bought by S Alam Group at Gondamara Union in Banshkhali of Chittagong will not be cancelled.
The HC bench of Justice Kamrul Islam Siddiqui and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil issued the rule on a writ petition filed by two brothers Abul Fazal Sikdar and Anwarul Azim Sikdar on Sunday.
Advocate Matiur Rahman Mati moved for the petitioner in the court.
At least 13 people including land secretary, finance secretary, water resources secretary, power secretary, NBR chairman, director general of Anti Corruption Commission, deputy commissioner of Chittagong, additional deputy commissioner (NBR) have been asked to respond to the rule within four weeks.
S Alam Group bought the land to install a coal-based power plant at Gondamara Union in Banshkhali of Chittagong.
