At UN, Israel wants

At the UN Security Council, Iran and Israel have accused each other of being threat to peace in the Middle East.

Besides, both the countries called each other as their arch enemies and demanded the security council to impose sanctions.

"The mask is off. Iran, the number one global sponsor of terror, has exposed its true face as the destabilizer of the region and the world," Israel's UN Ambassador Gilad Erdan said.

Meanwhile, Israel urged UN to impose all possible sanctions on Iran.

Iran's United Nations envoy told the Security Council Sunday that the Islamic republic was exercising its "inherent right to self-defense" in its unprecedented attack on Israel.

"The Security Council... failed in its duty to maintain international peace and security" after Israel's apparent strike on an Iranian consulate in Damascus earlier this month, Amir Saeid Iravani said.

Earlier, Iran launched the attack, its first ever to directly target Israeli territory, in retaliation for a deadly air strike widely blamed on Israel that destroyed Tehran's consular building in Syria's capital early this month.
