Series of earthquakes rattle Taiwan

Taiwan has been hit by a series of earthquakes. More than 80 tremors were felt starting Monday night (April 22) to Tuesday morning, reports ndtv.

Taiwan's Central Weather Administration said among these earthquakes, the strongest tremor was of magnitude 6.3. The epicenter was Hualien County on Taiwan’s east coast.

However, there were no reports of casualties.

Earlier on April 3, an earthquake measuring 7.4 magnitude hit east coast of Taiwan that killed at least 14 people.

Taiwan lies near the junction of two tectonic plates and is prone to earthquakes.

More than 100 people were killed in a quake in southern Taiwan in 2016, while a 7.3 magnitude quake killed more than 2,000 people in 1999._Agencies.
