Kolkata police did not find dead body of Anwarul Azim

Kolkata police did not find any dead body in the flat in West Bengal’s New Town area where Jhenaidah-4 constituency MP Anwarul Azim Anar is believed to have been killed.

DB police detained several persons including the key mastermind of this murder.

CID IG Akhilesh Kumar Chaturvedi on Wednesday said, “Anwar Ul Azim Anar has been missing since May 13. His daughter had tried to contact him but failed. A missing complaint was then registered here at the Baranagar police station. An SIT was formed to start an investigation and in the meantime, the West Bengal government got a letter from the Ministry of External Affairs to investigate the case. Today, we got an input that he has been murdered. We are trying our level best to solve this case. The CID is investigating the matter.”

Police sources said that blood stains were found at Azim’s flat. However, the police are still searching for the MP’s body. They have collected CCTV footage from the flat.

The police said the legislator of Bangladesh’s ruling Awami League came to Kolkata on May 12 through the Gende border in West Bengal’s Nadia district and first went to the house of one of his friends at Mondolpara in Baranagar.

Three relatives who accompanied Azim informed the police that he had first told them that he had come to Kolkata for medical treatment and later said that he had an important meeting in Delhi.
