Israeli tanks enters Rafah 

The Israeli army on Tuesday advanced into the heart of Rafah city in the southern Gaza Strip amid clashes with Palestinian militants.

According to Palestinian security sources and eyewitnesses, Israeli tanks and troops reached the city center amid heavy gunfire and airstrikes covering the ground incursion.

Eyewitnesses said that they saw a group of Israeli soldiers walking towards the western area of Rafah, targeting anyone who walked in the areas they were entering.

Meanwhile, Israel's state-owned Kan TV reported that the army is continuing its operations in the Shaboura camp and Brazil neighborhood in the city, searching for tunnels, and trying to determine the locations of armed elements.

It indicated that Israeli army forces advanced west of Rafah towards the Philadelphia Corridor.

As a result, hundreds of families were displaced since the early hours of Tuesday morning from the western areas of the city in search of safe areas amid the violent air and artillery bombardment.

On May 7, the Israeli army announced the imposition of its control over the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, located in the southern Gaza Strip on the border with Egypt, and in the eastern region of Rafah.
