BSF launches ‘OPS Alert’ along India-Bangladesh border

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has launched a 10-day OPS Alert exercise along the Bangladesh-India border.
Amid the prevailing tension in the bordering area, it has been launched to ensure heightened security marking the country’s Republic Day celebration.
The authorities concerned in an order asked the BSF to continue the OPS Alert exercise on India’s northeast and west Bengal borders till 31 January.
According to an official notification issued by BSF, the step has been taken on the occasion of the upcoming 76th Republic Day of India in the context of the current changing situation in Bangladesh.
India has a total of 4,096 kilometers of border with Bangladesh, including several northeastern states and West Bengal.
All the border out posts in charge of this long border have been alerted by issuing a notification on Thursday evening.
In BSF terminology, this instruction is called 'Ops Alert'.
