An Air India plane with over 242 passengers onboard crashed near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which was headed to UK, crashed at 1.38 pm while taking off, sending huge billows of smoke emanating near Meghaninagar, reports economictimes.

The DGCA also confirmed that the plane had 242 people onboard consisting of 2 pilots and 10 cabin crew.
The aircraft was under the command of Capt Sumeet Sabharwal with First Officer Clive Kundar. Moreover, the flight was heavily fueled for the long-haul journey which has a possibility of intensifying the explosion and fire that followed the crash._Agencies.
