Woman survives after drifting in sea for 38 hrs

Risingbd Desk: A woman who who fell from a cruise ship has miraculously survived after 38 hours at sea.

The 32 year old from Shanghai reportedly told her father that while lost at sea she even managed to fall asleep.

China Daily reports the woman - known only as Fan - went missing on Wednesday while travelling on a cruise ship from Japan to China. And while 100 volunteers searched for her on board, the woman could not be found.

Presuming Fan had fallen off the ship plunging 20 meters to her death, police assured her parents there was no chance of survival.

Against the odds, a fisheries official surnamed Wang in Zhejiang province reported he had seen the missing woman at a coastal area in Zhoushan. Remarkably, Fan only received minor injuries to her arms from the ordeal.

The story goes Fan had leant over a railing to gaze at the sea on the cruise ship, losing her footing and falling into the depths of the East China Sea. After swimming for some time, Fan became exhausted but managed to tread water - until eventually spotting a boat that rescued her two days later.
