Saudi Arabia to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha on Aug 21

Risingbd Desk: Saudi Arabia will observe Eid-ul-Azha on August 21 as Zil-Hajj moon was sighted on Saturday evening.

According to the Saudi Arab’s state news agency, the Day of Arafat will fall on Monday, August 20.

The Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Azha on the 10th of Zilhaj to commemorate the true spirit of the sacrifice made by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS). On this day some 4,000 years ago, Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) had offered to sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS) who willingly submitted to the will of his father to please Allah.

But the Almighty in His benign mercy spared Hazrat Ismail (AS) and instead sent a ram to be sacrificed.

National Moon-Sighting Committee will sit for a meeting at the Islamic Foundation's office on Sunday evening.

People have been requested to inform the committee over the following telephone numbers – 9559493, 9559643, 9555947, 9556407 and 9558337 - or fax numbers - 9563397 and 9555951 if they see the moon of Zil-hajj in Bangladesh sky.
