Global death toll from coronavirus rises to 4,295

The global death toll from novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has risen to 4,295 and the number of people infected with the fast-spreading virus now stands at 119,179 worldwide.

The lethal virus has already spread to 119 countries and territories across the world.

Around 66,617 coronavirus infected people have so far recovered after receiving treatment suggested for the virus and been discharged from hospitals.

Chinese authorities reported 24 confirmed coronavirus cases and 22 deaths related to the global coronavirus pandemic on Tuesday (March 10).

Ten of the newly confirmed cases were people arriving from overseas, meaning that mainland China has now imported 79 coronavirus cases.

All the deaths occurred in Hubei province, the outbreak's epicenter, according to China's National Health Commission (NHC).

Mainland China has now confirmed 80,778 coronavirus patients, 61,475 of whom have recovered and been discharged from hospitals. The death toll in mainland China now stands at 3,158.

Outside China, total number of COVID-19 cases is high in Italy.

Italian government authorities say the country now has 10,149 cases. So far, 631 people have died from coronavirus in the country and 1,004 recovered.

In South Korea, the death toll from coronavirus has risen to 60. The virus has already infected over 7,755 in the country. Of those originally infected, 288 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

Iran reported a total number of 8,042 coronavirus cases among of them 291 have died and 2,731 recovered.

Among the other countries affected by the virus, France reported 33 deaths, Japan 10, Spain 36, the United States 30, Switzerland 3, the United Kingdom 6, Netherlands 4, Hong Kong 3, Australia 3 and Iraq 7. On the other hand, Egypt and San Marino reported two deaths each while Taiwan, Thailand, Argentina, Canada, Panama, Morocco and Philippines reported one death each.

Late last year, the outbreak of coronavirus began in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
