1258 patients recover from coronavirus in Italy

After China where the coronavirus outbreak began, Italy became the second-highest country hit by fast-spreading disease, officially known as COVID-19. The number of new cases and deaths from the deadly virus in the country is on the gradual rise.

The virus has claimed 189 fresh lives in last 24 hours with the total death toll in the virus rising to 1,016.

The country reported more than 2,500 new coronavirus cases on Thursday (March 12), bringing the total to 15,112, according to Italy's Civil Protection Agency.

Country’s health ministry said 1,258 patients have recovered after receiving treatment suggested for the virus and returned home.

Around six crore Italians have been kept in quarantine since the country declared a state of emergency on Tuesday (March 10).

The coronavirus initially emerged in China late last year and is now spreading in Europe and across the Middle East, forcing the World Health Organization (WHO) to announce it as a global pandemic.

The illness, whose symptoms are fever, cough and difficulty breathing, may cause lung lesions and pneumonia.
