20 killed in Saudi Arabia road accident

At least 20 people were killed in Saudi Arabia when a bus ferrying pilgrims to Makkah burst overturned and caught fire on Monday.

About two dozen of people were injured in the incident took place in the southern province of Asir.

The bus was carrying passengers to the holy city of Mecca, including pilgrims going to perform the Umrah, a minor Muslim pilgrimage.

Most of the passengers were residents of Saudi Arabia and of different nationalities, the state-affiliated Al Ekhbariya channel reported.

The vehicle then collided with a bridge, overturned and caught fire.x
