Malaysia, one of the most prosperous countries in Southeast Asia, is mainly dependent on foreign workers. Although Malaysia employs workers from 15 source countries, the demand for Bangladeshi workers is the highest in the country. Bangladeshi workers are often praised by different ministers and businessmen of Malaysia.
In Malaysia, it has been said that new demand approval will be stopped from March 18, 2023, but the reality is that the number of approved demand submissions on Bangladesh High Commission’s online portal has more than doubled after March 18. Still, every day a large number of workers’ recruitment demands are being submitted to the High Commission’s online portal.
So far, about 380,000 new workers’ demand has been submitted on the embassy’s portal. Fresh demand continues to be filed every day. Even today (April 28) about 3,000 fresh workers’ demands have been submitted on the High Commission’s portal.
The High Commission has already confirmed the demand for recruitment of about 2,60,000 workers. So far, about 1,50,000 new Bangladeshi workers flew to Malaysia.
Golam Sarwar, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Malaysia, claimed that the demand verification process in the High Commission is a bit slow but currently the verification process is going on as fast as possible.
He expressed hope that by the end of 2023, about 5,00,000 new Bangladeshi workers will be approved for employment in Malaysia.
