Many BNP leaders ready for election: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said many BNP leaders have taken preparations for the general election.

“We cannot say that BNP will not participate in the election. BNP still has an opportunity. Although not coming from an alliance, many BNP leaders are prepared for the election. We have to wait for last moment”.  .

The Awami League general secretary came up with the remarks at a press briefing at the party president’s Dhanmondi office on Friday afternoon.

"I will be able to announce the final candidates for 300 seats by Saturday or Sunday. Many fresh faces have been nominated while some dropped out. We have not debarred winnable candidates," Obaidul Quader added.
 
Some of the current parliament members of AL have been dropped out from the election race, he said, adding that on the other hand, young people, who have acceptance of the people, are ahead in this race.

In responding to a question, he said, “Many non-political persons participate in elections in India.  Cricketer Shakib Al Hasan will carry out politics from now on, so he can get a nomination”.
 
The matter 'Acceptability to the Common People' has been given most importance in picking candidates, he continued.
