2741 candidates submit nomination papers across country

A total of 2741 candidates have submitted nomination papers for the forthcoming national election across the country.

Public Relations Department of Election Commission Secretariat informed this on Thursday (November 30).

The last date for submission of nomination papers for the 12th parliament election was November 30.

A total of 2741 candidates submitted nomination papers till Thursday afternoon. Candidates of 30 registered political parties out of 44 submitted nomination papers.

According to the election schedule, the scrutiny of nomination papers will be held between December 1 and 4. The deadline for withdrawal of candidature is December 17.

The candidates will be able appeal against the Returning Officers' (ROs) decisions between December 6 and 15.

The ROs will distribute electoral symbols among candidates on December 18 and the candidates will be able to conduct their electioneering from December 18 to 8am on January 5.

The 12th national election will be held on January 7.
