AL has to take permission for rally on Dec 10: EC

Awami League will also have to take permission from the Election Commission (EC) if it plans to hold a rally in Dhaka on December 10.

EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath said this while addressing reporters after a meeting with EU election experts at Agargaon in the capital on Sunday (December 3).

He said, the Election Commission will take action according to the code of conduct regarding the Awami League’s rally on 10 December.

He also said, "We have not yet received a letter about Awami League's rally. We will look into the matter after receiving the letter. Permission from the Returning Officer will be required to hold the assembly as per the law."

Earlier on Saturday (December 2), Awami League announced of holding rally in the capital on December 10.
