GK Shamim secures bail in fire arms case

Expelled Jubo League leader Golam Kibria Shamim, widely known as GK Shamim, has secured bail from the appellate division in a fire arms case.

A five-member bench of the Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan passed the order on Thursday (February 22).

At the same time, the court also ordered the high court led by Justice Nazul Islam Talukder to settle the case within next two months.

Senior lawyer former Attorney General Fida M Kamal and senior advocate SM Shahjahan moved for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Sujit Chatterjee stood for the state during the hearing.

Earlier on September 25, 2022, Dhaka’s 3rd Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sheikh Samidul Islam sentenced GK Shamim and his 7 bodyguards to life-term imprisonment in a case filed under the Arms Act.
