Country lacks about 1000m cubic feet of gas: Nasrul

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that on an average, about 2,050 million cubic feet of gas is being extracted daily. At present, the daily demand for gas in the country is about 4,000 million cubic feet. About 800 to 900 million cubic feet equivalent of imported LNG is being supplied to the national grid along with domestically produced gas against the demand. As a result, there is a deficit of about 1,000 million cubic feet of gas against the demand.

He revealed the information while replying to a question from lawmaker M Abdul Latif during the 1st session of the 12th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) that resumed at 10.39 am on Sunday (February 25) with Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
