DC conference starts Sunday, 350 proposals on agenda

A four-day conference of the deputy commissioners (DCs) is set to begin tomorrow, Sunday (March 3).

The conference aims at providing a platform for top field-level administration officials to engage directly with government policymakers.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally inaugurate the DC conference 2024 at the Shapla Hall of her office in the capital. The conference will feature a total of 30 sessions.

Md Amin Ul Ahsan, additional secretary of the Cabinet Division (district and field administration), said, “The conference aims to address issues and challenges encountered by the DCs in their work, and to share experiences and prospects.”

As many as 350 proposals may be discussed in 30 working sessions at the conference this year, he said.

Ministries concerned, along with ministers of respective divisions, advisors, state ministers and secretaries, will participate in the conference. They will offer necessary guidance and address various queries. The cabinet secretary will oversee different working sessions during the conference.

The DCs and divisional commissioners will have meetings with the prime minister, Jatiya Sangsad speaker, and chief justice. However, no session will be held between President Shahabuddin Ahmed and the DCs as the President is not currently in the country.
