No train fare hike for now: Railway minister

Railway Minister Md Zillul Hakim has said that even though various media published news train fares are increasing from April 1, before the Eid-ul-Fitr. However, no such decision has been taken.

The minister said this while addressing reporters in the capital on Sunday (March 17).

He said that train fare will not be increase before the Eid anyhow. Even, in the near future, train fares will not be increased.

Following the reports in several media regarding fare hike, he said that is he (Bangladesh Railway acting director general Sardar Shahadat Ali) the decision maker? We will consider the issue after informing people and discussing with you (journalists).

There is no reason to doubt this, he added.
