407 killed in accidents during Eid holidays

Road accidents increased by 31.25 per cent during 15 Eid holidays this year from the same period of last year.

At least 407 deaths and 1,398 injuries were reported in 399 accidents during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

Secretary General of Jatri Kalyan Samity Mozammel Haque disclosed this at a press briefing at the Dhaka Reporters Unity in the city on Saturday.

Other than road accidents, seven deaths and five injuries were reported in two waterway accidents, while 24 deaths and 21 injuries were reported in 18 train accidents across Bangladesh over the holidays, Mozammel Haque said.

In 2023, 328 deaths and 565 injuries were reported in 304 accidents over the same time.
