Milton Samadder placed on 3-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed Milton Samadder, founder of Child and Old Age Care, on a three-day remand in a case filed on charges of unauthorised burial of bodies by making death certificate using fake seals of city corporation.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain passed the order after the hearing on Thursday (May 2).

Earlier in the day, Mirpur zonal team Detective Branch (DB) Sub Inspector (SI) Mohammad Kamal Hossain, also the investigating officer of the case, produced the accused in the court with a seven-day remand prayer.

Meanwhile, Milton’s lawyers applied for bail to cancel the remand. The state opposed the bail and moved for a remand hearing. After hearing both sides, the court granted three-day remand to Milton Samadder.

A total of three cases have been filed against Milton Samadder on the charges of forging death certificates, human trafficking and physical assault.

A team of DB detained Milton Samadder from Mirpur area in the capital around 7:30pm on Wednesday.
