Bangladesh to introduce Bangabandhu Peace Prize

The government is going to introduce “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Peace Prize” from 2025.

The peace medal will be made of 18-karat gold and weighs approximately 50 grams. The prize winner will also receive one lakh US dollar.

The special award will be given to anyone or any organization in the country or abroad for their contribution to peace every two years. The nominees for this award will be announced on March 17 next year.

'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Peace Medal' policy was approved in a cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair on Monday (May 20).

Cabinet secretary Md Mahbub Hossain revealed the matter while addressing reporters after the meeting.
