Got important info regarding MP Anar killing: Harun

Additional Commissioner of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mohammad Harun-Or-Rashid said important information has been received from those arrested over the killing of Jhenaidah-4 constituency MP Anwarul Azim Anar, who went missing on May 13 after going to India.

“Police are working to nab the killers of Jhenaidah-4 constituency MP Anwarul Azim Anar. Already, several people have been arrested. We received important information from them,” he said while briefing reporters at the DB office on Minto Road in the capital on Wednesday (May 22).

“Bangladesh police are collaborating closely with the Kolkata Police and Indian authorities regarding the death of MP Anwarul Azim. We are getting important clue over his killing,” the DB chief said.

MP Anwarul Azim, who is a resident of the Nischintapur village in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah, went to West Bengal of India on May 12. He went out to see a physician the next day and did not return. Later, his severed body was recovered from a flat in New Town area of Kolkata on Wednesday (May 22).

Azim was the AL lawmaker from the Jhenaidah-4 constituency.
