Sea remains rough due to deep depression, cautionary signal at ports

The depression over the Bay has turned into a deep depression and is moving slightly north-northeastwards.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said this in a latest special weather bulletin on Saturday (May 25).

It was centered at 9am on Saturday about 565 kms southwest of Chattogram port, 495 kms southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 540 kms south of Mongla port and 490 kms south of Payra port.

It may likely move northeastwards and intensify further.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 48 kms of the deep depression centre is about 50 kph rising to 60 kph in gusts or squalls, the bulletin said.

The sea will remain rough near the deep depression centre.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal no one.

All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
