‘No cattle markets on roads, highways’

LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Md Tazul Islam has said that the government will not allow to set up cattle markets on roads and highways in a bid to prevent severe traffic jams and ensure safe and smooth travel for passengers.

The minister said this after an inter-ministry meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday.

On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, this meeting was organized with the aim of reviewing the overall preparation of cattle market management and waste management.

He said no one will be allowed to set up cattle markets on roads and highways during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.  Actions will be taken by mobile courts if any cattle market disrupts normal traffic movement. Two city corporations will remove waste within 24 hours of Eid”, he said.
