Ceremonial reception accorded to PM Hasina at Rastrapati Bhavan

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was accorded a warm ceremonial reception by her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

A red carpet was rolled out for PM Hasina and national anthems of Bangladesh and India were played during the ceremony.

On her arrival at the presidential palace around 9:00am on Saturday (June 22), the Bangladesh prime minister was received by her host Modi.

A horse mounted team of the president’s bodyguards escorted her motorcade from the Rashtrapati Bhavan gate to the forecourt.

Hasina was given a guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent drawn from three services of the Indian Armed Forces.

PM Hasina then inspected the guard and received salute.

Then the Indian prime minister introduced his cabinet colleagues to Sheikh Hasina at the presentation line. The Bangladesh prime minister also introduced her entourage members to Modi.

Later, Sheikh Hasina went to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat. Subsequently, she will head to Hyderabad House for the one-on-one meeting with Narendra Modi followed by delegation-level talks, witnessing the signing ceremony of MoUs and agreements. Afterward, both prime ministers will give press statements and attend a banquet luncheon, hosted by Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House.

In the afternoon, Sheikh Hasina will call on India’s vice-president Jagdeep Dhankhar at his secretariat and later, meet president Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She is scheduled to depart from Palam Airport, New Delhi at 6:00pm (Delhi time) on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight for Dhaka.
