Two killed in Laxmipur crossfire with RAB

District Correspondent, Luxmipur, Dec 16: Two alleged terrorists were killed in a “crossfire” between their cohorts and RAB in Jamirtoli area of the district Sadar early Monday.
Deceased Asaduzzaman Babul, 40, and his associate Md Khorshed Alam, 32. Babul was the prime accused in the murder case of Dattapara union parishad chairman Noor Hossain Shamin and two others.
He was also accused in a dozen cases, including five murder cases filed with different police stations, reported our Luxmipur correspondent quoting police.
It is learnt that Babul was joint convener of Digholi union of BNP.
Rab 11 commander Major Shahed said: “A Rab 11 team raided Jamirtoli area, led by Babul, were taking preparation to conduct subversive activities around 12:30am.
Sensing Rab`s presence, Babul and his cohorts opened fire, forcing the law enforcers to retaliate. After the outlaws fled the scene, Babul was found injured,” he added.
Major Shahed said Rab took severely injured Babul to hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Rab also nabbed three people from the spot.
Rab source said action will be taken against the detainees after investigation.
